This special rosary was designed totally with Pope John Paul II in mind and in honor of his beatification on May 1, 2011, Divine Mercy Sunday.
The Our Father beads were specially chosen to honor his devotion to Mary.
The Hail Mary beads were specially chosen to highlight his instituting the Luminous Mysteries or Mysteries of Light.
The full color center depicts Pope John Paul II in full papal attire.
The crucifix is representative of the crucifix he used throughout his papacy.
The significance of the two medals:

The first medal is the image of Our Lady of Fatima. The medal is in honor of Pope John Paul II's devotion to her, as well as the momentous event of his being shot on one of her visitation days. He attributed his life being spared to Our Lady of Fatima.

The second medal features the image of the Divine Mercy on the front and St Faustina on the reverse. The medal is important for several reasons. Pope John Paul II beatified & canonized Sister Faustina, who was also from his homeland of Poland. His funeral was held on Divine Mercy Sunday, 2005; and now, his beatification will be Divine Mercy Sunday, 2011.
